Tirzah had her puppies today. She was so thoughtful to have them in the middle of the day because she knows I don't do well without my 10 hours of sleep a night. Apparently Avalanche's sperm won out in the swimming department because all of the puppies are by him. She has 1 blue dog, 2 sable-merle dogs and 2 sable-merle bitches. They are all of very good weight and even the littlest bitch latched on to a nipple within minutes of being born. I was very happy about that, as I've had those puppies who have a look like they've been thru the wringer and it takes them some time to start nursing.
Here is a picture of me before the excitement started.
Hahahahaha........Don't I look happy??? Little did I know that Tony would leave to go to the gym and Chantal & Alicia would leave to go to the market and leave beautiful sleeping Stephanie on the couch for me to watch. At first it seemed like a good idea, and that's why I'm laughing, but soon after Tirzah started her contractions. Out came the first sable-merle bitch without a sack, so Little Ma needed some assistance. With half the puppy out, Stephanie woke up and started making small screaming sounds. I'm thinking it was good for Tirzah's contractions, but in case it wasn't I made 4 phone calls to the girls (and one to Tony who was on the treadmill in his gym) to tell them all to come home now. Poor Stephanie. There's always a first time to learn that sometimes you must cry on your own.
Chantal and Alicia redeemed themselves by bringing home these balloons. I love my step-daughters!
Here are 4 of the 5 puppies. The other one was nursing. They are very beautiful and strong! See, if you squint they all look like blue merles!!!
