Desert, Sage & Collies

After we left the dog shows and the rain, we drove up to spend the 3rd anniversary of Pierre's LEAVING US with his parents. I love the desert and normally take the dogs for a couple of long walks to the foothills of the Sierras. Since Kaia can't go that long, I decided to just let them run around the property instead several times a day. Orville & Germaine don't have as many "pets" as they used to, but they still have their chickens and a couple of pigs, and 2 dogs.

We ate fresh eggs and I took pictures of things that his dad does that reminds me of Pierre, like the thing to keep the lid open to the washer to keep it from getting mildewy in there. It's so Bain.

Tirzah Wins at the Specialty!

Tirzah won Best Opposite Sex to Breed at San Gabriel Valley Collie Club last weekend under Svend Jensen. She's just getting a new, beautiful coat and in another month or so is going to look amazing. I just love her lipline among a whole bunch of other things about her.

Here's a slightly different angle. Randy Smith took these show pics. He is my FAVORITE photograher in the whole world. Not only does he consistantly get my dogs looking gorgeous....I always look great (and YOUNG!!). I don't know how he does it because I have hundreds of photos thru-out the years were I look like either an amazon woman or just plain bad.

Randy also took the pic. The bitch behind us won Best Opp the next 2 days. She was very pretty. Different style of bitch but gorgeous picture she makes.

My friend Marilyn Lindauer took these two pics. She came on Sat. and picked up her new collie puppy from Miriam Stempler that was advertised on this blog a few weeks ago. The puppy's new name is Lily.

Tirz with the "fluffy butt towel".....this was a good day to show. Sunday was pouring down rain and I could have done without the whole day. Not only did we get dumped (though Ty consistently got 2nd in a big Bred-By class to a very mature Gambit dog), my dogs spent a lot of time in the van. Poor Punky.

Soleil was only shown one day as I didn't feel the other judges would like her blue eye. Teri Konoske gave her a 4th Sweeps Finalist. Teri was really cute with her. Soleil came in the ring like a jumping bean and Teri told me to go to the end of the line and hopefully my puppy would calm down, which she did. She also said some very nice things about her. Tim Garrison gave her 4th in the Bred-By class which was gorgeous. I'm not sure but I think WB & RWB came out of that class. Anyway, I couldn't wait to leave and get up to my in-laws. My dogs needed some serious running in the desert!

Lancaster Station Deputies Honoring Pierre

Jon White, who was one of Pierre's partners had these pictures taken for me. The station dressed out in their long sleaves, ties and black bands across their badges in honor of Pierre. They do it now for all the fallen officers at the station. It goes to show that these officers never forget and they want the public to remember too the sacrifice they make and the families make. Every time I see a cop on the road I always say a prayer that they are protected and are able to go home to their families every night. My heart goes out to the four officers who died in Oakland this last week. It makes me so sick to hear about it and to know what the families are going thru. If you are pulled over for a ticket, please thank the officer for doing their job. They are not being dicks, truly. Their job is to protect the public and they want to go home to their families too.

I love you all! It is because of all of you and a whole bunch of other family, friends & individuals (I never met) that I didn't stay under the covers for a year. The depth of caring has been astounding. I will never forget all you did for me.

My Darling Pierre ~ You Light Up My Life ~ Still

It's been 3 years since you left. The worst day of my life. I was standing in nearly this spot when the sheriff's car & helicopter came to pick me up and I knew you were gone. In a second everything was seriously re-arranged ~ minus you. No "command z". No re-do.

My life has been an amazing journey and one of incredible growth. I have been blessed with having you in my life for 6 1/2 years and still you are there. It's having your daughters and granddaughter, your parents and friends in my life who I love so much. It's this green bug on your helmet that still makes me laugh years later, among a 1000 other things. God I miss you.

You sent me a great man to share my life with who loves me as much as you loved me. I am fortunate to have listened. You would want me to be happy. We talked about it. You're probably laughing at me now as I take care of T, like I learned from you. A gift I'm trying to perfect and am enjoying so much.

How lucky I have been to know you Pierre. And, how lucky everyone else who met you and loved you. You rock with God. You rock with us ~still.

The Biscuit Eater ~ But Not ALPO!! (Or Biscuits!!)

Here's Seabiscuit in the Alpo Ad Rob of Critters of the Cinema and I did last fall. I didn't even know it was done, and adorable Lori in NC saw it. Thank God for Photoshop, because if SeaB put up with all that in the ad, he'd win the MOST AMAZING DOG EVER AWARD!! (He should anyway!) Truly, it was probably the most difficult shoot I've ever done with one of my dogs. They don't naturally like to lay in a big sunken tub and looked relaxed. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this dog!

Puppy Tails ~ A Day At The Ranch

T & I went to the ranch today to see the horses and visit with a friend. I brought Ty & Soleil ~ they just can't wait to live there ~ nor can we. We have a very long ditch with pipe in it that intersects with our stream, or irrigation water. The puppies were cracking me up because they were playing in both for an hour. All I saw half the time were their little fluffy tails. They reminded me of skunks and frankly they didn't smell too clean after slurping up the horse doo doo and running in the stream!

They were running FAST!!!

Here's my beautiful Shahara looking like quite like the ranch pony! Just waiting on her foomer doomer now....she apparently doesn't want to have a baby! Look at her..."Oh, don't touch me!!"

Here's Sabi ~ He's such a people horse. All of them are in dire need of brushing! But their feet look good!

Here's fat Ali'i. I keep saying if I put his mane & tail up and you squinted AND you walked across the 25 acres, he'd look like a Belgium. He might get locked up on a dry lot soon.
