Tirzah seems to be having a false pregnancy. She's acting just like Punky used to, and has picked out this toy to carry around. Don't you think it looks most like a sable merle????? I have 300 other toys, but it's this one that she wants to take care of.

My Re-Planted Canadian Who I'd Like To Re-Plant Again

One of my very good friends Jody and her darling daughter Kaila drove up Friday night to visit Tony and I. She's never been here and her visit was timed perfectly to bring a couple of boxes of Green Tripe & Performance Dog for me from So. Calif. Jody is a trouper, even though the tripe was frozen, boxed in a plastic bags, it's still not for the faint of heart.

I met Jody about.....9 years ago. She and I worked at the Santa Clarita Free Classifieds together for 6 years. We spent many late Tuesday evenings together eating junk food and laughing and crying about our lives. I worked hard and fast because I got paid by the week, but we never could leave before all the work was done as we had a weekly deadline. There was many an evening we were there til 2 a.m. finishing up some horrendous Audio America ad, or Simply Discount. Ads that had 50 photos of car stereos you had to scan from actual boxes and then put 2 pt type underneath with 3 paragraphs of crap no one couldn't read.

I hated that part of it, but loved that I only worked Mon-Wed evenings and had a lot of time with Pierre & the animals every week. The people were fun most of the time, though some of the sales people were pretty annoying. They hired someone I called "Cell Phone Guy" because he had 5 cell phones and I told them he'd last a week there but they still hired him. Just enough time to get a check for doing nothing for a week! And then there was "um, ah" what's her name.... L    y    n   n.  My work would have been so boring without her.....Memories....

Jody's brother Darrin was one of the owners and he didn't have a lot of patience for people who were a little slow.......When I first started there, I didn't talk to hardly anyone, but I knew he was from Calgary and Jody was also AND, they had the same last name. (That should have been my first clue.) About 6 months into my employment he and I got into a late night discussion about Jody and drinking games they used to play. I did the usual and put my whole foot and leg in my mouth and asked him how he knew her....wow, they were both from Canada!! OmGod....you are a dumb shit Diana!! "Jody's MY SISTER!!". I did things like that on a regular basis. Like doing a real estate ad and putting the wrong company's name in the copy and not noticing the company sign was in the photo. I always knew I'd done something wrong when the publication from the week before was on my desk with stickies in it. Darrin re-named me "Dinna"....I liked Darrin, but it was better when he was on the road. He was good at asking if blonde was my natural color. 

Here's Jody with her beautiful daughter Kaila. I'd hate to post that I offered to buy her when she was a baby because that would sound really horrible, but Jody should have more children!! She's a breeder!!

She also is the most confident woman I know and it was so funny because all week before she got here, Tony would say "She doesn't want to do that", etc, etc. I had to tell him "You don't know Jody". She just handles stuff. She's the type of person that if you needed help with something yucky and she was wearing an evening gown & all fixed up, she'd still do it, and not a word of complaint would come out of her mouth. That impresses me. She wouldn't be saying "Oh, let me change first" or "I'm busy ~ can't make it". She really helped me so much after Pierre died. But, it's a bunch of little stuff also that I appreciate. I miss her. And, her little darling Kaila could come back anytime! What a monkey on my swing set!! I was NEVER like that. I was prissy about getting hurt and flingin' around upside down!

Guess who slept with Kaila and Jody all night. Kaila kept whispering in her mom's ear asking her to ask me if she could bring Tirzah home with them. I told them they could have the red dog (Parker), but she wanted Tirzah. Tony didn't think that was funny.......hehehehehe.....

Here's T and I before we had drinks. He's not a big drinker, but that's great because then I can drink and not worry about driving. I love margaritas but I always get a headache right afterwards, but Tony orders me the ones with the good tequila now.....that's the trick ~ no headaches!! Yummy!!

Jody & Kaila left this morning. I'm working on them moving up here, like they would. But, she did think it was quite lovely here. We walked over No Hands Bridge, then went down to the American River to put our feet in the water. Pretty beautiful place. She is interested in riding endurance ~ she used to ride Tahoe with me & Sabi before she got pregnant. I told her Auburn is The Endurance Capital of the World"! Love it!

Those Summer Clouds ~ Remembering ~ My Favorite Pictures of Family

In sending a Blog Alert to my brother's girlfriend, she commented back how much she loves those clouds too and how it reminds her of the Sierras.

This picture is for you Kathy. My favorite of my BigBabyBouncingBrotherBrian. We were coming back from a trip over Taboose Pass (some 10,000 feet) and stopped at a remote campsite in the Owen's Valley. It was 1982, just 3 weeks after mom had died. We took a very difficult trip up over the pass with my dad and two of his best friends, John & Vince. This picture was on the way home ~ one more night before going back to reality. I love it because Brian looks like an Indian. It was hot and rainy, one of my favorite types of summer weather. Brian is the best to go on a hiking trip with, because he just knows what to do and how to handle stuff. He doesn't complain about anything even if he's hurting. He used to carry 90 lbs (I'd carry 65 lbs) and one trip he sprained his ankle at the beginning of the trip. (Gee, might the weight have something to do with that????) We had some 45 more miles and 3 more passes to hike in 2 days and he never said a word. He did unload quite a bit of his cool camping equipment and food to some caveman who was on a 30 day hike. This guy looked like he had won the lottery!

Since we mentioned mom, this is my all-time favorite picture of her and I. It was Christmas Eve, probably around 1967. I believe that's a stuffed kitten in my arms. I didn't play with dolls AT ALL. I was all about animals.

 

Remember phone books?????? And that you had to be attached to your house to talk to someone on the phone??? What a kick!

The Guest House is Started!!

The footings have been laid for our guest house. The septic, plumbing & electrical have all been approved at this stage so the foundation is getting poured today!! Very exciting. This place is going to look humongous from the outside, but in all realty, the living area is under 1000 sq. ft. (My type of place!!) The garage is very big, so it'll make this look like our primary residence. We are soooo excited. I can't wait to get out there so I can be with my horses again and get some chickens!!!!! Punky also wants to live somewhere where there are no stairs.

I love these kind of clouds. It reminds me of the Sierras and the desert ~ and summer. 

I Hate Dog Shows......

I've been showing for 2 days now and I've spent a lot of money on entries and grooming products with not much return. Tirzah has been Breed 2 days now, but it'd be pretty pathetic if she wasn't as yesterday she was the only collie who showed up and today, the only special. Ty & Soleil went today as another bitch was entered, so the idea was to get WD and BOW with Ty, and Soleil could get WB, but I wasn't going to cry if she didn't. Ty was WD for no points then didn't cross over to get the bitch point and Soleil was Reserve......ugh. And, the group has been just as exciting!!! REGARDLESS...I have spent quality time with Tony, and the dogs. AND, I begged then forced him to show Ty in BoV and have to say he did a stand up job! Ty moved beautifully for T, but we had a judge today that didn't like any mistakes...so when Ty was doing his puppy stuff, she rolled her eyes and I guess that wasn't very good.

I do have pictures though and tomorrow is another day, though it's just Tirzah going so we have to go for the big win like BEST IN SHOW!!!

The BEST thing about this weekend is Ty & Soleil's brother Cory, Easy To Spot Varekai has been WD/BOW all weekend and now has about 6 pts. 

Blondie getting groomed. Another exciting thing is I found Persian Henna, (one of my favorite grooming products) and bought everything on the shelf for a steal!! That was worth the entries!

Tony also took some pictures of Squishy. He is very photogenic. It'll be fun when he really matures and gets the hang and leg fur. He was so bad in the ring. He wouldn't let the judge look at his bite. That's when the eyeball-rolling started. I guess I should train him. I thought he was adorable!!! Not. Apparently Cory lets the judge go over his bite TY!!!

I'm over my shock and on to more important things. Thank God you can't see how utterly filthy Ty is. Eating bones and getting drenched but not clean in the sprinklers has been his week. I love when the puppies do stuff like this. They fascinate each other. Makes me all "squishy" inside!!

Relatives

This is um, a relative that lives in the Seattle area. My sister-in-law Sherry has been incensed at the fact that I haven't blogged her Cocker yet. It might have helped if she sent me a picture a long time ago because I would have jumped on it. Especially a picture like this. What a cute nose. 

Here she is in the woods with the little guy. What's up with that leash????? And, the tongue!!! She's a great owner because she walks with a leash AND a waterbowl. That's more than I do!!  Keep sending them Sherry!!
