Last night I let the puppies have run of the yard and garage. I figured they would sleep in the garage with where it's warmer (suddenly it's FREEZING here and two days ago it was over 100 degrees). Anyway, they slept right outside our bedroom slider so they were literally 4 feet from me all night. That made me very happy. This morning at 5:03 am Ty decides to get his squeaky toy and start playing with it right next to the open screened door. I started laughing. He is so cute! He loves his toys. (T couldn't figure out what the sound was.) It's pretty beautiful here. I was then able to see my horses walking across the pasture looking like migrating elk. Life is good.

We Are Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so happy!!! I have my computer set up with a wireless thingy thing from Verizon....why did I not do this before?? No extra ugly wires and crap. The other thing is it's so fast. (Why anyone would still be on dial-up goes under another one of my "catagories"....and this is even better than DSL)

Anyway, it's our second night here and Tony's birthday ~ we moved stuff but part of his family came to help us. Better than me ~ I got him a card that made me laugh more than him and I bought him birthday cake & ice cream only after he asked me....~ it's been pretty stressful moving and building the dog yards I had a Tony meltdown over this last week. Anyway, we got here with my computer at 3 pm and at 3:15 I realized I forgot a little tiny hook-up for my Mac. I didn't think twice. I was on the road again back to my other house (1 hour away) to get it and pick up some other stuff. It was worth it!! I guess I'll have to make up to him for a crappy birthday tomorrow.

Righty Tighty Lefty Loosey

This has been my life for the last two days turning that wrench while saying "righty tighty lefty loosey".....for the life of me I cannot remember which way to turn stuff....You think I'd know that by now even between just yesterday and today!!

My oldest and best friend Lori told me this years ago because I think she was deficient in that brain cell also. She helped me put up so many dog yards in my "travels" thru life and most of the time we laughed the whole time. I remember her smashing her finger so hard with a hammer I just started yelling "OH! OH! OH! OH!". I looked over at her and she was just staring at me wondering what my problem was. She was the one with the smashed finger! I really miss her because she's in Kentucky now and I don't see her much, but when we talk, it's always like we talked the day before. She's always on Craigs List and just picked up a FREE arabian mare (Khemosabi granddaughter, 8 yrs old) who she is going to breed to a Tennessee Walker. I told her there's her Tevis horse....she says she'll come ride with it with me. She cracks me up! She's a great horse trainer and is very patient. Anyway, this dog yard was a little easier to put up ~ back when we were in our 20s we were putting yards up with some ugly fencing. As long as the dogs stayed in and were safe, we didn't care.

Speaking of not caring.....here is the most handsome shade for the doggies. We'll plant trees also and this is not an ideal situation ~ but seeing as there isn't a bit of shade, I really don't care........I banged my head so many times on it today, I really hope I stop that!! 

I hired Adam and his buddy Blair to put the shade together. They did it in about 3 hours. Adam really reminds me of Pierre....he just looks at something and handles it! They were absolutely amazingly efficient. We laughed quite a bit calling it T's "ViperPort".....T hasn't seen it yet. I might let him go ahead of me tomorrow, then lose cell service!! Hehehehe!!

We still have a few things to do to the yards, like hang the gates and put some fluffy beds in the dog houses. Here are the Punkettes outside dog toys. They came from So. Calif. originally and several are many years old and have weathered quite a lot of winter dog yard flooding.....nothing the washer and dryer couldn't fix. The carrot in the front is the same as one of my indoor toys that Kaia won when she was 18 months old at a puppy match. I have a picture somewhere. When I find it, I'll scan it. Anyway, when all the doggies get in their new yards, I want them to feel at home! I can't wait!!! I wished my beautiful Punky could have made it.

You were the love of my life Kaia. Today in all its pain was worth having you in my life for nearly 13 years. You were such a gift ~ my breath of fresh air every day ~ my most beautiful Punky. 

Again the early-morning sun was generous with its warmth. All the sounds dear to horsemen were around me ~ the snorts of horses, the swish of their tails, the tinkle of irons as we flung the saddles over their backs ~ little sounds of no importance, but they stay with us in the unconscious library of memory.

Our Little House (On The Prairie) ~ The Appliance Hook-Up Day & Stuff

On Saturday Ashley's father-in-law Brian hooked up our stove and fridge. How cool is that because since he's related we didn't have to pay him!! Hehehe!!! Anyway, I know he did it out of the goodness of his heart and since nothing blew up we are ecstatic!! Here Ashley is grabbing her face as she said things like this stress her out.....meat bees do also!!

Here is Punky & Jimmy in our living room. This rug came from Tony's last house and I never realized how beautiful it is. It looks like it was made for this house, as it fits perfectly and looks gorgeous with the hardwood floors. I never noticed the detail of the rug at his other house because it was so dim in his great room and was on top of carpet. This looks like just a regular shag carpet, but it's not. The detail is lovely. Punky loves it too!

Our 1/2 bath without a mirror. I got that at Ross Dress For Less.....$14.99....I'll blog it later ~ it's really pretty!

Punky goes with me every time I go to the house. She is much happier being with me and it's so much easier walking her there without stairs.

Later on in the day, Tahoe gave us all a show. He apparently comes before noon and then around 3pm to roll in the dirt of our expensive septic site.

I can't wait til we get up here! It's been really hard not living with my horses, and also have Ali'i and pregnant Aura boarded elsewhere. I started today to pack some things for the kitchen ~ so stressful!! I hate moving and I have done it too many times in my life! Worse yet, most of my things will be in storage. It's hard to think of packing up all of my books, my favorite framed art pieces AND my studio....and just pick and choose what will fit in this little house. BUT, I cannot really complain. It is just so exciting to be almost done.

Pooooorrrrrr Squishy!!!!!!!

I woke up this morning to find Squishy with this very swollen face. I thought at first he had a bone stuck in his molar and all I had to do was pull it out.....

Maybe he'd look better if he got bit on both sides of his muzzle (from this angle)....

But not from this angle!!! That's one UGLY lipline!!!!

He doesn't seem to be too concerned about his state. He's still lovesick over Zoe being in season and played very hard with Soleil and Tirzah this am. I gave him some Benadryl just to be on the safe side. SeaB got bit in almost the same place at the new house by a meat bee, but he never looked this bad! Glad I didn't have my big baby boy entered in a show! Oh my!

Our Little House (On The Prairie) ~ The Horse Expo Tiles!

The Tumbled Travertine backsplash got done this weekend. I had those tiles I bought from the Horse Expo that Denise Banda made and I was unsure how I wanted to incorporate them in the tile/house.

I debated for several hours, trying to visualize them in the wall and wondering if they would look too odd. Since I am not one to do stuff like everyone else, I kinda didn't care. I love the tiles and the energy of the pieces.

I went home, debated all night, got pissed (somewhat unrelated) and told T to tell the tile guy to forget it. By the time we got up there most of the backsplash was done, but I was able to finally commit or forever hold my peace.

I had him take out some of the tile on the left of the sink and put in the one piece, then add two on the right side of the sink. I love it. It's art. It's perfect to me.

Unfortunately you can't see the full effect of the art & travertine because the electrical plates aren't on yet, nor is the grout in. I'll update later!

BTW, my favorite lamp over the granite center island! Internet purchase!!

Collie Fur Eves Art

I have several "things" of fur hanging from my eves outside where I blow out the dogs in the summer. Outside it's much more intense. This is why T wanted those curved eves on the new house. Hope they help!
