So we're home. I blogged last night but didn't post. The hotel had Wi-Fi which I never knew how to use, and since my Verizon hookup wouldn't work, I took the plunge and clicked on the Wi-Fi. Lo and behold I had internet service!!! Very cool! It was fast.
So, here is Blondie before we went in the ring. And some of her competition.
We sucked. We were in second in the Bred-By class and when the judge (Mr. Frost) wanted to see the class go around one more time, I typically and naively thought he meant the whole class. Well, I guess I heard wrong because 1/2 way around the ring, Mr. Frost gave me the ol' "You suck. I said 'ONE at a time'!". Do I tell him I have a hearing problem? Or say "Could you please ENUNCIATE next time??" I decided not to say anything and looks sheepish. So we started again from the beginning and he placed me third. I felt like a novice. There's a lot to be said to be out on a regular basis and apparently I am riding my horses too much.
A bitch with ZERO hair was Winners Bitch for a major. WD & Breed were similar "Brandwyne" types, so I figure he knew what he was doing. Isn't that why we pay for their opinion? Soooooooo..........
Here is a cell phone picture of Best of Variety ~ Ch. & Int'l Ch. Jerusalem Hills Faith Is The Victory, HIC. Again, I love this bitch. She reminds me so much of Lana's mom Garbo. (I need to put up some photos of Garbo.)
After the herding group Secret Service and I were off to our respective La Quintas. (I picked the closer and more expensive one and regretted it somewhat, but got over it once Blondie & I were locked in for the night.)
After getting set up in our hotels Secret Service and I met up a a fabulous Italian restaurant and had wine, salad (mine with real anchovies!!), pasta and dessert. We had a great time and it's always nice to see her. I still MISS my friends in So. Calif. Thank God for dog shows!!
Back at the hotel I blogged, watched TV, studied my French and took a cell phone picture of Blondie.
Today I moved up in the dog show world. We were Reserve......................................................................................................................
Blondie's brain was on overload and she started to um..........take advantage. The barking started again and some very animated dragging me around the ring. Not that she galloped but it wasn't helping her win the points. Or her front, which the judge today told me was the problem.
In Bred-By, the judge (Mrs. Gschwender) watched her on the down and back. Cute, fluffy, chunky Soleil with really nice movement was flying, saw a piece of bait at the corner, dive-bombed that and turned around ready to charge back to the personwhoawardsthepoints. The judge had a huge smile on her face and said "She's a little shit!" I didn't know judges swore but I really liked that about Mrs. Gschwender and more so when she said the next thing. "Put her up at the front of the line" On around we went. And then it happened. She said "Please put that (2nd place) bitch in front". That might be worse than being in 3rd. Worse than any other kind of reserve. Worse than a sharp stick in the eye. Around we went again, we pose, Blondie's barking, posing, dancing and that was it. We sucked. We were Reserve.
The good news is....Melinda Sunnaborg got a major on a bitch who is the RESERVE QUEEN (I told her I did not want to be like her ~ this is Soleil's 2nd Major Reserve, not counting the Specialty Reserve & some minors and numerous 2nd in the class ~ "I really like her but not enough for 1st" doo doo).
Also this 4 day show circuit, 2 other bitches finished their championships and a third (who won yesterday) got her first major. And let me tell you about that dog. I'm sure the owner wouldn't have shown her (she actually told me she wouldn't have) because she didn't want to break the major and here she is now with a 3pt major! I love that! Nice lady and she always compliments me on Soleil & Squishy. I like to see people win who don't expect it and more so, when they're just really nice people.
Sooooo...........because I didn't get any good shots at the show and Ray of Sunshine (who showed up) didn't offer to take photos I had T do some this afternoon. Ray redeemed himself in other charming ways, but taking photos was not one of them. T would be a good dog show photographer (if he knew where the zoom was on the camera), because he knows how to get the dog's attention, but he thought I wanted me, the dump truck, cows and 25 acres in the photo too. So, some of the fuzzy ones I had to crop from 1/4" Soleils. The better photos that he got were when he used my zoom. What a guy! Thank you T! What would I do without you??? No New Years Eve Soleil Photos!!!
Oops! Forgot to finish with Photoshop!
I like this photo though she's so obnoxious. So full of herself. I love her. Really had fun with her at these shows. But, I would like her to keep her mouth shut and feet on the ground or moving properly. One collie judge sitting at ringside thought she was a puppy ~ just like one at 2 1/2 yrs old. I breed them like that. Crazy.
So, my initial goals for 2011 are to finish her championship. Any more I have to think about for a day or so. I'll let you know.
That's the scoop and........
HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
