So, I really love these wine glasses that Cardiffness won....but the ribbon isn't my favorite color.... BUT it's way better than getting back of the bus like I did with Blondie. Like vomiting on my beautiful sable merle by two judges all in one day. Wtf. And I sorta knew that before I entered so it's my fault. But I'm just saying.......
I left at zero-dark-thirty on Friday to meet to Sue and track with Sage Brush before I made my 10 1/2 hour trek. Sage was GREAT, Thrill was GREAT and we had a little dog walk before I drove off. I gave Sue a dozen eggs and she brought me a ziplock bag of chocolate chip cookies. She said she thought I didn't eat sweets, then realized I do. Not sure where she read that but I ate nearly the whole bag by the time I reached Bakersfield! I almost tossed the bag of cookies into the back of my Saturn while I was driving because I kept eating more cookies. I feel so fat. So, yes Sue I eat cookies and do I love myself because of it? Not really. But they were REALLY good!!
My friends Marilyn & Llyod invited me to stay at their home near the specialty and that was sooo nice!! They have a very old home that has so much character (a term I learned on House Hunters) and not only that, Llyod made me 2 magaritas and dinner!! I have not been there for 11 years but their home was still beautiful and just as I remember it. Lana was a baby and Kaia was not finished yet and we were showing at a local all-breed. Wow. Memories. Anyway, all the girls got to sleep with me and Sage was very well behaved sleeping loose in the bedroom..... I realized in the middle of the night when I almost took my teeth out on the top of the 4 poster bed pillar I was sleeping in that someone else might have already done that because the little knobby thingy thing was loose. Kinda an interesting travel tidbit. Glad it wasn't me first.

This was Sage's first trip as a big puppy and she did fantastic. She traveled well, peed when she was walked (and for you who don't know, not all puppies do that.....especially puppy bitches), and she loved the whole dog show environment. She was sure everyone came there to see her, so I liked that about her.
Cardiff was shown under Bob Futh in the A.M. specialty and she was in Bred-By with 5 bitches. Futh could hardly take his eyes off of her and he easily gave her the class. I was pretty sure we were going to be Winners Bitch. I could hardly breath waiting for Winners. But I also know it's never a good idea to assume until the judge hands you that ALL Purple ribbon (and AKC says you got a major)! She was beaten by an open tri bitch who had a very pretty outline and moved beautifully. O h w e l l . . . .

Cardiff won the Bred-By class in the second specialty and she got looked at in Winners but didn't do anything. I suppose I could say we're at least in the running, but driving 10 1/2 hours one way makes it harder to take. I wannnnnna get her majors!!!! Waaaaaaa!!!!!!!!

Soleil showed beautifully in both shows, but it was my impression that both judges were not going to give her shit because of her 1/2 blue eye. She is in gorgeous condition right now and is very showy, so it's a little frustrating to me, though it's the same kind of judging I had to deal with when I was trying to finish her championship. I still maintain that you can have a dog with two brown eyes who doesn't move as nice, or doesn't have the head details, etc, etc and for a judge to pick on the blue in the eye as the defining reason to not look at all the virtues is a difficult thing for me to understand. In fact it makes me kinda mad.

This is when I want to go ride my horses and not show.....

Denise came down with Bristol and took all the ringside photos. Thank you sooo much again Denise for grabbing my camera and clicking away. You are the bomb!!!
After the show, I went to Martha's to spend the night in her new place. That was also very fun and we stayed up til midnight talking about dogs and watching Sage play with all of her toys I brought her. Martha has downsided and gave me a bunch of pedigrees, books and a couple of breeders work books. I'm looking forward to going thru all of that.
I was exhausted Sunday morning when I drove home and still am tonight. It was fun to see all of my old friends in Southern California and also see my friends Marilyn & Llyod win a major with their 9 month old puppy dog. How cool for them!
Until next month!! I mean, I'll blog, you know....but not go to any shows til then! Hahaha!! It's just tracking and riding the horses. Fun stuff. So Nitey Nite!!!

Oh Post Alert!! I forgot to put this photo up of Cardiff's 1st place Bred-By win. I love this!!! Nice show with nice trophies!!
