It's sorta now or never. I'm either going to condition Aura for Tevis next year or I'm not. I'm not so sure she's even 100% sound. I always think my horses look off in the round pen and that's how she looked last week. But then I ride her and she seems fine. She is such a bitch. I think all the time she needs another owner or I should just breed her again. Most of the time she annoys me. I spend 15-20 minutes tracking her down in the pasture and I know with time she'll realize I'm going to get her no matter how long it takes and she won't run as far but every time, I want to video-tape her to show what I deal with. What a pain in the ass she is.
I may try to do a slow 50 at the end of November and see how she does. She's also getting ulcer meds to see if that helps her attitude as far as being at a staging area and eating/not eating. On our High Sierra trip she didn't eat very much and that drives me crazy. I worry that she's going to go metabolic and colic or something. Based on my endurance reading, ulcers in endurance horses are somewhat common and they can be treated. We'll see how she does.
So that's the scoop. I still suck at blogging.
