Ok, good weekend/bad weekend, but I'm ok with it. I just HATE WIND. And, I don't like to get dumped, but I didn't get dumped all weekend. Just enough that I think I like riding better....ha ha ha.
The bestest part of the weekend was seeing several friends from Southern California and a bonus was I sorta cleaned my house.
Marilyn & her friend Valerie came over for dinner Thursday evening. I made Chicken Adobo http://allrecipes.com/recipe/adobo-chicken-with-ginger/ in my new/used cast iron pot and while it tasted ok, there was a problem with something.......black teeth and lips. I swear I suck. Next time this meal goes back into the crock pot where it cooks perfectly. Anyway, we had a great time and Marilyn got her sable smooth porcelain sculpture with dog bed.
Marilyn & Valerie were nice about the black teeth & lips and blamed the red wine and a good time was had by all.
Friday Marilyn saved me a spot so I didn't have to get up a zero-dark-thirty to get to the showgrounds. I still got up at zero-dark-thirty though. Friday I was showing Sage & Tirzah under Cheryl Anderson. I wasn't having high hopes for Sage because of her profile, but lo and behold the little darling took a 2nd place in a ginormous (by 2013 standards) of 9 bitches in the Bred-By class. I was super happy.....and she's super showy.
Tirzah was in BOV and my goal was to finish her Grand Championship of which she needed 6 minors. I was originally going to enter her in all the shows but 2 hours before entries closed she was limping, which is was something she was doing off and on that week. So, I entered her in 2 shows, and Cardiff in the 3 others.
Anyway, Friday Tirzah got Select Bitch and a 5 pt major. Not too shabby. One more stinkin' pt. which she did not get Sat. afternoon. Regardless she has gotten nearly all her points in 2 specialty weekends.
Little Licky Licky ♥♥♥
Tirzah's such a crack up. She likes to bark without really moving her mouth.
Tirzah's not quite fluffy yet and she's out of shape with no running on the property during the summer. This is also not the best time of year to show collies. Just sayin'.
Dina & Al came up late Friday as she was breeding her bitch. It was so nice to see them and they decided to drive to our place after the show on Sat. I told her that would be awesome but just don't look inside my shower......
We put Brenna in the dog yard by herself and she gave the evil teeth to Ty.
Then we hung out with the horses with our wine & Tahoe hung out real close to us. What's up with that??? Baby & Aura are in a pen indefinitely, so Aura can heal. Maybe Tahoe was just as excited as we were to have company.
T went to get ribs from a place down the road and THEN made a fire outside. It was SOOO NICE and we watched the LGDs play. Awwwwwwww.......bliss!
Sat am & all day Sunday Cardifffiiiiiiiinnnneeeeeessssssssss was entered. And she did nothing. Nada. Nien. Niente. Tipota. Mitte midagi...........w h a t e v e r . . . . . .
The Sunday PM show the judge didn't even award a Select Bitch. That would have been Cardiff or another special bitch in the ring. I would have liked a Select on her as she would have gotten another GCh. major, but I like that the judge did not award one if he didn't think it was deserving. I think the Grand Championship is fairly easy to get and I like to call it the "Dumbshit Award", which Marilyn jokingly loves to remind me of. So many times judges just pick out a dog and bitch for the awards more out of niceness, or so they don't piss exhibitors off and I don't agree with that. The idea is that these dogs would be the quality that should win Breed or Variety so I really respect when a judge says there isn't that quality. Now, having said that, I think Cardiff is pretty beautiful, but she obviously was not the type these judges were looking for. And, I love that she gets to come home with me.
Yesterday I decided to bring Squishy to the show with Cardiff and I couldn't have picked a worse day to do that. When I got to my set-up half my stuff was blown away from the WIND and everything was full of dirt and leaves and poor Squishyness. I was sure he was going to be a mess, mentally. Surprisingly he did really well and wasn't worse for the wear. In fact I took him out and groomed him and baited him around the show grounds. He was very cute and really did well. He was flicking ears here and there, but most of the time was just having fun. Anyway, I suck again on getting photos. I just was so miserable and didn't want to take photos of a dog with dirt and static electricity in his coat. So, wtf. Sorry Jolene.
I packed up everything after the first show, then groomed Cardiff on the back of my Tahoe with about 3" of foot space. THAT I should have taken a photo of. Good girl Niffy. I could make a clean getaway after the final judging.
This is my dog show news for a while. I'm off for an ultrasound today for Soleil. I'm pretty excited. And I have to ride Chubby this week. I miss my riding.
